Setup
An
Internet
HAM
Gateway
Well
its easy.
Just use
WIN98 and AGW
Packet
Engine.
You will
have your
Gateway
ready and
running in
just a few
minutes.
Brief
introduction:
Ham
Internet
Gateways
are used
to let
amateur
tcpip over
radio
stations
to access
the
internet.
Usally
they have
a (or
more)
radioport
with TNC(s)
and a
connection
to the
internet
using an
Ethernet
Card or
even
simple
modem and
a
telephone
line.
We have
here two
interfaces,
the first
can
communicate
with the
packet
stations
and the
second
with the
internet.
We just
need a
program
that will
handles
the data
between
those two
interfaces.
This
program is
called
Proxy
server.
WIN98
cannot act
as Gateway
so we need
something
similar
and the
solution
is the
Proxy
servers
programs
that are
available.
Most of
them are
Shareware
but there
are a lot
freeware
also.
The
most
suitable
for job is
the
HHPROXY
which is
also
freeware.
It is a
little bit
difficult
to
configure
it but
nothing
special.
