Myself
with
daughter
"Nina"
|
My
interest
in
electronic
started
when I was
as small
as my
daughter
in this
photo!
However,
It took
very long
till I
could make
a crystal
set or a
one valve
TX!!.
Every
person I
knew, just
did not
help me.
They were
not ready
(or
perhaps
not in
such a
position)
to give me
a simple
circuit of
a single
valve
transmitter/oscillator!!
Any way, I
continued
my
struggle
and by 16,
I already
made
several
projects.

I got my
first
license
when I was
19. The
call sign
was
VU2DJZ.
Soon,
within 6
months, I
got
Grade-1
license
with call
sign VU2FD
and got
advance
grade,
when that
license
was
introduced
by the
Government.
My
father was
a Dentist
(Dr.V.D.Gajjar,
died 14th
May 2005)
and so was
my
grand-father
(Dr.D.J.Gajjar
-
a veteran
freedom
fighter)
having a
well
established
dental
clinic
since 1908
and may
be, wanted
us (me
& my
elder
brother)
to join.
But we did
not find
that
profession
interesting.
It was ham
radio
which led
me to
study at
A.V.Parekh
Technical
Institute,
one of the
five
institutes
in India,
offering
courses
for marine
communication
licenses .
I passed
Certificate
of
Competency
in
Wireless
Telegraphy
(Maritime
Mobile) in
1974 and
joined
Shipping
Corp of
India as a
Radio
Officer.
From
1976 to
1999. I
worked
with 3
different
companies
in
Germany,
Greece and
Singapore
as a
marine
wireless
officer. I
always
enjoyed
working
onboard
ship,
because
work for
me was
always
hobby. I
spent most
years of
my life
touring
&
working
(from age
24 to 50)
in the
USA.
I am
making an
effort
here to
present a
small
amount of
material
that I
have for
young and
old. It
should be
useful. I
hope, lots
of people
use it
&
develop
themselves.
Later, I
wish to
put here a
lots of
projects
that I
have built
myself
during the
period of
30 years,
once
things are
ready in
presentable
form.
Recently
I have
setup a
Website
with
Amateur
Radio Home
Brewing
Projects
&
Kits.
